About Andy Martin, Therapist | Online Therapy in Texas

A Direct, Thoughtful Approach to Therapy

Finding the right therapist matters. Not just someone qualified, but someone you can actually talk to—someone who feels real.

I provide online therapy in Texas and tend to be direct but grounded. I’ll be honest with you, but not harsh. If something isn’t clear, I’m comfortable saying “I don’t know” rather than offering answers that don’t hold up. Therapy, at its best, is about understanding—not pretending.

Background and Experience

I’ve taken a non-linear path to this work. I worked low-paying jobs while pursuing music in my 20’s, made mistakes, and had to figure things out along the way. That experience shapes how I approach therapy. Life isn’t a neat package, and I don’t expect it to be for you either.

At the same time, I don’t make therapy about me. I’ve done my own work, and I continue to. What matters is that you have the space to focus on yours.

I returned to school in my thirties, earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin, followed by a Master of Science from Texas A&M–Central Texas. I founded Martin Psychotherapy Services in 2018 after years of experience working with substance abusing clients.

How I Work: Trauma, Anxiety, and Relationship Therapy

I don’t reduce people to symptoms. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, trauma, relationship stress, or something harder to define, we focus on understanding the patterns underneath—how they developed, how they show up, and what keeps them in place.

By nature, I’m an observer. I know when to step back and give you room, and when to be more active and engaged. Therapy with me isn’t silent or distant, but it also isn’t overwhelming. There’s space to think, process, and move at a pace that feels right.

My work often integrates EMDR therapy for trauma along with insight-oriented approaches, depending on what fits your situation.

A Bit More About Me

Outside of therapy, music has been a constant. I spent much of my twenties playing in bands, and that experience still shapes how I listen.

I’m also a husband and a father. My wife is a teacher, and we’re raising our autistic teenage son. Those parts of my life continue to deepen how I understand patience, communication, and long-term growth.

Who I Work Best With

I work best with people who are willing to look at themselves honestly, even when it’s uncomfortable. If you’re looking for quick answers or surface-level advice, this may not be the right fit.

If you’re looking for something more thoughtful, steady, and real, we may work well together.
